FESTIVALS AND CELEBRATIONS
The Celebrations Committee exists only to provide entertainment and festivities that promote both visual and performing arts and crafts. The goals of these events are to celebrate the holidays and provide a creative outlet for local artists, craftsmen and food vendors. These attractions provide appealing activities for all ages and ethnic groups.

Springfest Art Show and Festival has been a major community event since 2000. The festival has a variety of vendors, face painting, inflatable games, handmade crafts, pottery, balloon sculpting, clowns, music, dancing and food. A major attraction of the festival is an art show featuring the work of students from Southside Ashpole, South Robeson, and Rowland Middle School. Their art is displayed at the Historic Depot and Museum.
Christmas Parade and Festival is another of Rowland’s annual events that is held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Christmas parade is consisted of floats, horse show, queens, fraternities, sororities, trucks, cars, marching bands, fire truck, Shrines’, vintage tractors and Santa. The local businesses sponsor three of the rented floats who participants are selected from the schools.
Veterans Day Celebration
The Town observes Veterans Day on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month each year at the Historic Depot on West Main Street. The depot has become a place of honor for veterans whose names are etched on the many memorial bricks placed around the flagpole.
This annual ceremony is supported by many organizations, including VFW Post 9158,South Robeson High School’s JROTC unit, and the Veterans Celebration Committee.
A significant tribute was given to area veterans with the recent presentation of an Honor Board, displaying the names of over 700 Rowland-area veterans; this display can be seen in the atrium at Town Hall.

Retirement Community Committee
This committee was organized to recruit and attract retirees and commuters, especially those with connections to Robeson County and around military installations such as Ft. Bragg in neighboring Cumberland County. One goal is to enhance the quality of life for all residents and visitors by providing a wide variety of activities that encourage physical, social, health, community pride, relaxation and enjoyment of the town’s open space and parks.
Senior Citizen Center
Senior activities are convenient to those participating at the local downtown Senior Center. The center is open Monday-Friday from 8 A.M. to 11:15 A.M.. A nutritious lunch is served, daily along with an offering of many games and activities for the seniors to enjoy.
The Center is located at 111 W. Main Street. next door to the library.
Council of Governments transportation service offers pickups for any person interested in riding to and from the center. There is also a meal on wheels delivery for those home bound seniors. You may contact the Lumber River Council of Governments at
